courtown harbour
We went to courtown harbour surfing the other day instead of our regular haunt. The waves looked perfect and it was a beautiful day but when we got in the currents were so strong I could barely move against them and we just got dragged down the beach. We didn't get to surf. Respect to the sea, she's boss. (and respect to Paddy who saved my ass)
Also that day, when I was pulling on my wetsuit, (no mean feat to be true), I managed to punch myself in the face. A full on box to the mouth. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry, so I did both.
MX rock the Village
They get better and better every time I see them. They were brilliant in the village!! Happy birthday to Ro!

our beautiful beach
Here's the pretty beach (and the lovely walk down) where we do most of our surfing. It's called Maheraghmore which is as fun to say as it is to spell! There's a muddy parking spot, a long smelly walk and a slightly treacherous descent, but all in all it's a great spot with lovely people and occasionally some decent surf! (hello to Big and Small [the danger boys] and Howie and Jake)x

new years surf....
Paddy and I went on a surf adventure for Newyears.... We both knew that escaping Dublin for the festivities was essential, but to trek cross country to Clare and Kerry where gale force winds were whipping everything into a frenzy was the stuff of sheer determination (or madness...)
It was freezing to be true. On one day we actually waited in the car during a hail storm before going out in the surf....
(that man blew away like a paper in the breeze!! seriously!!)
(so did the moo cows!!)
(small print - nothing actually blew away in the surfing of new years....)

clicky
please, if you're in london, try your darndest to get a table at Bacchus in Hoxton. I think it's called molecular gastronomy, or Sous Vide. They call it fine dining in trainers. Whatever the words, it was quite simply the SEXIEST piece of salmon I have ever had...Bar...NONE. Our cocktails foamed, our wine answered all of life's little mysteries, and I can't can't can't WAIT to go back.
They have a tasting menu, 9 courses I think, with wine. I need it in my belly ASAP!
(many congrats to Phil and Nuno xx)

Odessa!!
Besides a lovely visit with Laura, Jonty and the noodle, I got to see my gorgeous friend Odessa who I haven't seen in YEARS! Literally. We worked together in the Spaghetti Factory in Toronto before I moved over here. She's recently moved to London and it seemed as if no time had passed since that summer in the SPAG....
catch up posts......
I have some lovely Photies from Laura's exhibition (HOUSE PARTY) and my spectacular DJing debut, (which, if I'm to be perfectly honest, involved me pressing play on my laptop, and spending the rest of the evening unsuccessfully trying to keep red wine off my dress....) It was a great nite, the house was beautiful and the art was fantastic. A short visit to be true, but very sweet xx

the new boss
I have loads to catch up on, but I suppose freshest in my mind is Boss Volenti. Two words. Good rock. Paddy and I cycled in from Dun Laoghaire to brave Whelans which seemed sweatier than normal and full of exorbitantly tall folks. eeerie. Anyway, the rock was mighty and the whisky helped the cold cycle home.
(it's worth a mention that I have become a DEMON on the ole bicycle. I might just be champion of the world.)
(it's also worth a mention that, although I've never been knocked down or involved in an accident of any kind, I DID tip over while stationary onto the windscreen of a car stopped at the lights. No Whisky involved. So embarrasing.)
