I spoke to her last night, after I'd had a few Guinesses, and I was struck by how Canadian she sounds. What! She's been home, like 5 MINUTES!!

gym drama

Anybody who knows me well knows my recent gym-obsession. It's bordering on lunacy and has only been fueled further by my recent TOP-30-gym-goer status.

Today there was an incident.

I mightn't go back.

A crap song came on my ipod mid-run. I was truly giving it sox on the treadmill when a bad tune ruined my buzz. We've all been there. It's disastrous. So I grabbed for the ipod, dropped it, then all hell broke loose. It went flying halfway across the gym. THEN I WENT FLYING HALF WAY ACROSS THE GYM!

then...

to add insult to injury, a muscled macho man LEAPED off his treadmill to save me.

All I could say was oops, then I had to leave because the giggles took over.

Gabriel Rosenstock

I was lucky enough to attend the book launch of one of my favorite poets last night. As a lover of all things Haiku, I am a big fan of Gabriel Rosenstocks, an Irish erotic haiku writer, among other things! Hearing him read last night was entrancing, despite the fact that it was mainly in Irish. I was quite taken with the beauty of the tones and timbres of this language and was happy to listen without understanding (luckily it was translated as well.) So now a tribute to this fine writer.

I'll look outwards into the world.....
I was very excited to hear that they've discovered a new species of Lemur in Madagaskar. They are the most endangered of all the primates and this new find is encouraging.
Madagaskar is a unique place as it has evolved in isolation for 165 million years. As a result there are animals and plants that exist here and nowhere else on earth. The newly found lemur is a giant mouse Lemur known as Mirza zaza (rock star name for sure) and is just about the cutest thing I've ever seen.

Ana-vilegny Chuve M.

This is my sponsered child from San Javierito, Bolivia. I just got an update and I'm proud to share that Ana-vilegny has been healthy over the whole last year. She has adequate amounts of water from a covered well with a handpump. They can't drink this but can get clean water from a nearby health post which is about 15 min away. She enjoys playing with dolls and singing (excellent!! me too!!!)

dim sum!! yum yum!!

This afternoon myself, Corina and Erin went for DimSum at the restaurant where our pal Jackie works. I LOVE Dim Sum. I love the presentation and the variety (and the random body parts that somehow sound tasty like chicken feet and tripe!) It was always a treat as a kid when Mom and Dad would take us for Dim Sum. As children, my sister and I were squeeemish eaters at best but I have fond memories of fights over the last duck foot...

chainsaws

I got off the dart in Sandycove the other day and there were some men with chainsaws, It brought back such wonderful memories. I love the smell and sound of chainsaws in the morning. It makes me miss my Dad.

1. being denied from the Polskie Partie despite being with an ACTUAL POLISH PERSON!! (they didn't believe us....)Thank God though because we got to go to the wonderful SIN nightclub. (note the sarcasm)
2. seeing/meeting/harrasing Jimmy Carr (depending on who's telling the story)
